Letters From the Board And Executive Directors

Letter from Executive Director

Welcome to Wilson County Partnership for Children website.

We are a non-profit organization that seeks to meet the needs of families with children birth-five years by providing high-quality and affordable child care, health care, and other critical services. The Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University and the National Scientific Council on the Developing Child (2007) states, “All aspects of adult capital, from workforces skills to cooperative and lawful behavior, builds on capacities developed in childhood, beginning at birth.” It is important to understand that children who are provided with developmentally appropriate practices within the first 2000 days of their life will be at an advantage versus children who do not receive early care and education. The ability to enhance Wilson County Partnership for Children funding streams, expand current Smart Start programs, and make the agency and the services offered more visible to the community is a step in that direction.

Robert. L. Ehrlich states that, “Experts tell us that 90% of all brain development occurs by the age of five. If we don’t begin thinking about education in the early years, our children are at risk of falling behind by the time they start Kindergarten.” Wilson County Partnership along with its dedicated staff continues to meet the ongoing developmental needs of children 0-5 years, subsidy assistance for families and professional development for early childhood educators. Our goal is to increase our services and make a difference in the lives of families and early childhood educators in the Wilson County community.

Thanks for visiting our page and I hope to hear from you soon!

Sincerely,

Dr. Nora J. Lee
